Ibrahim Hassan Takes Legal Action After Claims He Insulted Egypt Players as Team Denies Incident

Controversy has grown around Egypt's national football team following allegations that several players were verbally mistreated during the match against Angola.
The reports have prompted head coach Hossam Hassan and his brother Ibrahim Hassan, the national team director, to prepare legal action.
The situation began after a journalist claimed during a television program that Ibrahim Hassan had used offensive language toward some players during Egypt's goalless draw with Angola in the opening round of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Egypt's media team quickly rejected the allegations and provided an explanation of what happened at Cairo International Stadium and after the match, seeking to address concerns about the relationship between the coaching staff and the players.
Egypt's Denial
Mohamed Morad, Egypt's national team media coordinator, strongly denied reports that Ibrahim Hassan had verbally abused players during or after the Angola match.
Morad explained that the coaching and administrative staff did not hold a meeting with the players immediately after the game, rejecting claims that an argument had taken place in the dressing room.
According to Morad, the coaching staff remained in a separate room inside Cairo International Stadium while the players stayed in their dressing rooms.
Everyone later left the stadium and returned to the team hotel.
He added that Hossam Hassan met the players during a meal at the hotel, where he encouraged them and offered support following the disappointing draw rather than criticizing them.
Morad also addressed videos showing Hossam Hassan sitting alongside Mohamed Salah on the substitutes' bench.
He insisted that the footage did not show any argument or disagreement between the coach and Egypt's captain.
The media coordinator further denied suggestions that several players were unhappy with the coaching staff or had agreed to stay away from future national team camps.
He maintained that these reports did not reflect the actual atmosphere within the squad and called for greater accuracy when reporting information about the national team.
Legal Action
Meanwhile, Hossam and Ibrahim Hassan have decided to respond through legal channels rather than limiting their response to public statements.
According to Egyptian media reports, the brothers have instructed their lawyer to prepare a formal complaint to the Public Prosecutor concerning the accusations made against Ibrahim Hassan.
The planned legal action follows allegations about the national team director's treatment of players during the Angola match.
Reports also indicate that the brothers intend to submit a separate complaint to Egypt's Supreme Council for Media Regulation regarding statements made during the television program.
The developments come as Egypt's coaching staff continues its efforts to maintain stability within the squad during the qualification campaign for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
The dispute has also raised questions about how reports involving national team players and coaching staff should be handled, particularly when allegations have not been independently verified.
For now, the national team has denied the claims, while the Hassan brothers are preparing their legal response.
No official investigation outcome has been announced that establishes whether the allegations are true.
