Al Ahly Open Egypt Capital Cup Campaign with 5-0 Win Over Petrol Assiut

Al Ahly made a powerful start to their Egypt Capital Cup campaign with a comfortable 5-0 victory over Petrol Assiut at Al Salam Stadium in the opening round of the group stage.
The win did more than give Al Ahly their first three points.
It also came only a few days before their highly anticipated league derby against Zamalek, giving the team an important confidence boost.
Al Ahly looked dangerous from the opening minutes, controlled large parts of the match and saw several players deliver strong performances ahead of the Cairo derby.
Strong Al Ahly start
Al Ahly needed only two minutes to open the scoring through Mohamed Magdy Afsha.
The goal came after early pressure on the Petrol Assiut defence, allowing Afsha to take advantage and put his team in front.
Al Ahly continued to push forward, while Sofiane Benjdidia caused problems for the opposition defence.
The Moroccan forward eventually scored the second goal in the 33rd minute after a quick move led by Hussein El Shahat.
El Shahat played the ball to Benjdidia, who finished the move to score his first goal for Al Ahly.
Four minutes later, Benjdidia found the net again after going through on goal, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Al Ahly went into halftime with a 2-0 lead after controlling most of the first half and limiting Petrol Assiut's attacking threat.
El Shahat leads the rout
Al Ahly made changes at the start of the second half, with Akram Tawfik and Omar El Saai coming on, while Afsha left the pitch after picking up an injury.
Petrol Assiut tried to reduce the deficit, but Al Ahly remained the more dangerous side.
Hussein El Shahat then took control of the match by scoring twice in only two minutes.
He scored Al Ahly's third goal in the 58th minute before adding the fourth in the 60th minute following a pass from Taher Mohamed Taher.
Al Ahly were not finished yet.
Substitute Omar Sayed Moawad scored the fifth goal in the 79th minute after another good pass from Taher Mohamed Taher.
Moawad moved towards goal and calmly finished the chance to complete the 5-0 victory.
Petrol Assiut tried to score a consolation goal, but Al Ahly's defence held firm and kept a clean sheet until the final whistle.
The victory gave Al Ahly their first three points in Group Three of the Egypt Capital Cup.
The match also gave the team several positives, including a strong attacking performance, two goals from El Shahat, Benjdidia's first goal for the club and a good appearance from Omar Sayed Moawad.
The timing of the result is also important, with Al Ahly preparing to face Zamalek in the Egyptian league on October 11.
After scoring five goals and keeping a clean sheet, Al Ahly will head into the derby with high confidence as they prepare for a much tougher test against their biggest rivals.
