Mohamed Salah Makes History in Turkey with a 12-Year Record as Trabzonspor Close In on the Top

Egyptian star Mohamed Salah continued his impressive performances with Trabzonspor, helping his team secure a 3-0 away victory over Samsunspor on Saturday, October 10, 2026, in the seventh round of the Turkish Super Lig.
The match also saw the Egypt captain reach a historic milestone that had not been recorded in the available statistics for 12 years.
The victory was about more than three important points for Trabzonspor.
It also marked another personal achievement for Salah, who has become one of the league's standout players this season after recording 10 goal contributions in his first seven matches.
Salah Makes History
Mohamed Salah achieved a remarkable milestone in the Turkish Super Lig by becoming the first player to register 10 goal contributions in the opening seven matches of a season, according to Opta data available since the 2014-15 campaign.
The Egyptian forward has scored seven goals and provided three assists, bringing his total to 10 goal contributions in just seven league appearances.
His latest contribution came against Samsunspor when he delivered an assist to Franculino Gluda, who scored Trabzonspor's third goal in the 40th minute.
Although Salah did not score in the match, his assist showed that he can make an important difference through both goals and creative passes.
According to Turkish reports, Salah currently leads the league in total goal contributions this season.
He also shares the top spot in the scoring charts with Gift Orban, with both players having scored seven goals.
Victor Osimhen, Vedat Muriqi, and Eldor Shomurodov follow with six goals each, setting up an exciting competition for the league's top scorer award.
Salah's impact goes beyond scoring goals.
His ability to create chances and support his teammates has made him an important part of Trabzonspor's attacking system.
His performances have given the team more attacking options and helped it produce strong results in the opening weeks of the season.
Trabzonspor Close In
Trabzonspor started strongly against Samsunspor and controlled much of the first half.
Ernest Muci opened the scoring in the 27th minute before Chibuike Nwai added the second goal in the 38th minute.
Just two minutes later, Mohamed Salah provided an excellent pass to Franculino Gluda, who scored the third goal and gave the visitors a comfortable lead before halftime.
However, Trabzonspor faced a difficult situation in the 43rd minute when Melih Kabasakal received a red card, leaving the team with 10 players for the rest of the match.
Despite having an extra player, Samsunspor failed to take advantage of the situation.
Trabzonspor defended their lead throughout the second half and completed an impressive 3-0 victory away from home.
Salah started the match and remained on the pitch until the 77th minute, when he was substituted after another influential performance.
The victory took Trabzonspor to 13 points and moved them into third place in the Turkish Super Lig standings.
They now sit one point behind second-placed Amed Sportif and three points behind league leaders Galatasaray.
Meanwhile, Samsunspor remain in 16th place with four points after another disappointing result.
The win followed Trabzonspor's impressive 4-0 victory over Galatasaray in the previous round, giving the team two consecutive league victories under German head coach Thomas Reis.
Reis also reached a personal milestone by becoming only the second foreign manager in Trabzonspor's history to win his first two Turkish Super Lig matches, following Shota Arveladze in 2015.
These recent results show Trabzonspor's improvement, particularly in attack, where Salah continues to play a major role.
With 10 goal contributions in only seven matches, the Egyptian captain has made an outstanding start to his Turkish league career.
Attention will now turn to whether Salah can maintain his scoring form, compete for the league's Golden Boot, and help Trabzonspor challenge for the Turkish Super Lig title.
