Barcelona continued their impressive start to the Spanish La Liga season with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Getafe at Camp Nou on Saturday evening in Matchday 8 of the 2026-27 campaign.
The match also saw young Egyptian forward Hamza Abdelkarim make his second appearance for the Catalan club.
Barcelona controlled the game from the opening minutes and secured another three points to maintain their perfect league record.
Their eighth consecutive victory took them to 24 points at the top of the La Liga standings.
Barcelona's Three Goals
Barcelona made an excellent start when Anthony Gordon opened the scoring just two minutes into the match, giving the home side an early advantage and allowing them to control the pace of the game.
The Catalan side continued to put pressure on Getafe's defense, and Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus doubled the lead in the 30th minute, sending Barcelona into halftime with a comfortable two-goal advantage.
Barcelona remained in control during the second half before French defender Jules Kounde scored the third goal in the 73rd minute, securing a convincing 3-0 victory.
In the 81st minute, Egyptian youngster Hamza Abdelkarim came on to replace Gabriel Jesus, making his second appearance for Barcelona's first team this season.
The appearance gave Abdelkarim another opportunity to gain valuable playing time and show his abilities as he looks to establish himself in a squad filled with attacking talent under German head coach Hansi Flick.
Top Spot and Next Challenge
With this victory, Barcelona increased their points total to 24 from eight matches, winning every league game since the start of the season and remaining at the top of the standings.
Meanwhile, Getafe stayed in 12th place with eight points.
Barcelona started the match with Joan Garcia in goal, while Jules Kounde, Eric Garcia, Gerard Martin, and Espart formed the defensive line.
Gavi, Rodri, and Dani Olmo played in midfield, with Lamine Yamal, Anthony Gordon, and Gabriel Jesus leading the attack.
Brazilian winger Raphinha missed the match after head coach Hansi Flick decided not to take any risks with his fitness following a minor injury suffered while playing for Brazil in a friendly against Australia.
The victory over Getafe provides Barcelona with an important confidence boost ahead of their return to European competition.
The Catalan club will face Turkish side Galatasaray on Tuesday in the second round of the UEFA Champions League league phase.
Barcelona will hope to carry their strong domestic form into Europe and continue their winning run, while Hamza Abdelkarim will be looking for more opportunities to play and develop with the first team in the coming matches.
