Egypt’s Judy Mohamed Wins African Cycling Silver, Three Seconds Off Gold

Egyptian sports continued to achieve impressive results on the African stage as national cycling team rider Jody Mohamed secured a silver medal at the African Road Cycling Championships, currently taking place in Kenya, following a closely contested race for first place.
Jody claimed silver in the 10.2-kilometer individual time trial after delivering an outstanding performance that brought her extremely close to winning gold.
She finished second, just three seconds behind the winner.
The achievement highlights the young Egyptian cyclist's growing potential and her ability to compete against some of Africa's most promising talents.
With her sporting career still developing, she could have another opportunity to compete at the African Junior Championships next year.
Praise for the Achievement
Ayman Ali Hassan, President of the Egyptian Cycling Federation, expressed his happiness with Jody Mohamed's silver medal, describing it as an important step in her career and a clear sign of the national team's progress in African competitions.
He explained that the result reflects the continuous efforts made within Egypt's national cycling teams, particularly the focus on improving athletes' abilities through training programs designed to prepare them for continental and international competitions.
Hassan congratulated Jody Mohamed, the national team's coaching staff, and the federation's board members.
He also praised the support provided by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Armed Forces Sports Authority, along with the efforts of Hany Saeed, a board member responsible for overseeing the national road cycling teams.
He emphasized that the federation remains committed to supporting young talents and providing the resources they need to improve.
He added that regular training, hard work, and dedication will be essential for achieving more medals in future competitions.
Future Development Plan
The Egyptian Cycling Federation President revealed that the board introduced a development strategy at the beginning of its new term, focusing on combining road cycling and track cycling training to improve athletes' physical fitness and technical abilities.
He explained that training in both disciplines helps riders gain valuable experience and become more competitive across different events, which remains one of the federation's main goals for the coming period.
Egypt's delegation competing at the African Championships in Kenya includes Italian expert Cristiano Valoppi and national team coach Reda El-Masry, alongside cyclists Jody Mohamed, Mohannad Ahmed, Malak Mohamed Mazhar, and Eyad Alaa El-Din.
The Egyptian Cycling Federation hopes the national team will continue producing strong performances throughout the remaining events while developing a new generation of riders capable of competing for medals at major championships.
Jody Mohamed's silver medal provides another positive sign for Egyptian cycling.
Finishing only three seconds away from gold shows her potential to achieve even greater success in the future and continue representing Egypt on African podiums.
