A Draw That Feels Like a Defeat.. Al Ahly Drop Two Points Against Al Qanah in a Crazy Match

Al Ahly avoided a surprise defeat against Al Qanah after scoring a dramatic late equalizer to secure a 3-3 draw at Cairo International Stadium on Wednesday evening, in Matchweek 7 of the 2026-27 Egyptian Premier League.
The match was full of excitement and several changes in the score.
Al Ahly took the lead twice, but Al Qanah fought back on both occasions before scoring a third goal late in the second half.
However, Moroccan defender Achraf Dari rescued Al Ahly with a stoppage-time header to deny the visitors a memorable victory.
Exciting First Half
Al Ahly started the match strongly as they looked for an early goal to take control of the game.
Their efforts paid off in the 18th minute when Omar El Saei opened the scoring after receiving a pass from Mohamed Hany inside the penalty area.
He fired the ball into the net to give Al Ahly a 1-0 lead.
Al Qanah responded well and began taking advantage of the spaces in Al Ahly's defense.
In the 32nd minute, Mody Shalata scored the equalizer with a shot from inside the penalty area that beat goalkeeper Mostafa Shobier.
Al Ahly pushed forward again in search of another goal and managed to regain the lead in the 43rd minute.
Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki scored the second goal after receiving a pass from Ahmed Sayed Zizo in front of goal, finishing from close range to put his team ahead.
The first half ended with Al Ahly leading 2-1 after an entertaining 45 minutes.
Late Drama
Al Qanah returned for the second half determined to get back into the game and quickly put pressure on Al Ahly's defense.
Their efforts were rewarded in the 54th minute when Hazem Abu Senna scored the equalizer with a shot from inside the penalty area, making the score 2-2.
After conceding, Al Ahly tried to take control of possession and create more chances, while Al Qanah focused on counterattacks and taking advantage of defensive mistakes.
Al Ahly head coach Hussein Ammouta made several attacking substitutions, bringing on Hussein El Shahat, Mohamed Magdy Afsha, and Sofiane Ben Jedia to increase the pressure on the visitors.
However, the biggest surprise came in the 80th minute when Al Ahly defender Yassin Marei accidentally turned the ball into his own net while trying to clear it ahead of Mohamed Hamdy Zaki.
The own goal gave Al Qanah a 3-2 lead and left Al Ahly facing a possible home defeat.
With time running out, Al Ahly pushed more players forward and launched several attacks in search of an equalizer.
Their pressure finally paid off in the third minute of stoppage time when Achraf Dari rose to meet the ball and scored with a header, bringing the score level at 3-3.
The final whistle confirmed a dramatic draw after an exciting six-goal contest.
Al Qanah produced a strong performance and made the most of their attacking opportunities, while Al Ahly's defensive mistakes cost them two important points in the title race.
Following the result, Al Ahly moved to 17 points and remained second in the Egyptian Premier League standings.
The draw also prevented them from building on their previous 2-0 victory over Zamalek.
Meanwhile, Al Qanah increased their total to eight points and stayed in 11th place under head coach Abdel Nasser Mohamed, earning a valuable point away from home against Al Ahly.
