The financial dispute between Zamalek and former player Ahmed Sayed Zizo, who currently plays for Al Ahly, has returned to the spotlight after the club revealed new legal action to claim EGP 20 million over advertising deals involving the player during his time with the White Knights.

The latest developments mark another chapter in the disagreement between the two sides.

What began as a financial dispute has now moved into legal complaints and investigations, with Zamalek determined to recover what it believes is its share of Zizo's advertising income.

Kamal Shoaib, Zamalek's legal adviser, explained the club's position during an appearance on the television program "El Captain" on DMC.

He confirmed that the club had approached the relevant authorities to review the advertising agreements and determine the money it believes it is owed.

EGP 20 Million at the Center of the Dispute

According to Shoaib, Zizo's contract with Zamalek included a clause giving the club 20% of the revenue earned from advertisements featuring the player during his contract period.

He explained that Zizo appeared in more than 10 advertisements while playing for Zamalek and received payments for those appearances.

However, the club claims it did not receive its agreed share of that income.

As a result, Zamalek submitted a complaint to the Egyptian Football Association, requesting EGP 20 million in advertising-related payments that it believes remain unpaid.

Shoaib made it clear that the amount represents the club's financial claim rather than a final confirmed figure.

The exact amount will depend on a detailed review of the advertising contracts and the payments Zizo received from each deal.

The legal adviser added that Zamalek believes its position is supported by the terms of the player's contract, which the club says entitled it to a percentage of advertising revenue throughout his time with the team.

At the same time, Shoaib stated that Zamalek does not believe it owes Zizo any outstanding payments, based on the documents the club has submitted to support its position in the wider financial dispute.

Zamalek Takes Further Legal Action

Zamalek's efforts have not been limited to its complaint to the Egyptian Football Association.

Shoaib revealed that the club had also filed a report with the Public Prosecution and the relevant investigative authorities, including those responsible for investigating financial matters.

The purpose of these steps is to examine the advertising agreements, review the payments involved, and establish whether Zamalek is entitled to receive additional money.

He also confirmed that the club's earlier complaint to the Egyptian Football Association had been dismissed.

However, Zamalek challenged that decision by filing an appeal.

According to Shoaib, the club is now waiting for the relevant investigations to establish the exact amount involved in the dispute.

He explained that reaching a final figure requires a review of the available contracts and financial documents, particularly those showing how much Zizo earned from his advertising appearances.

The legal adviser stressed that Zamalek intends to continue pursuing the matter through the available legal channels because it believes the case concerns contractual obligations that should have been respected.

These developments have brought the disagreement between Zizo and his former club into a new legal stage, with both the financial claim and the outcome of the investigations still unresolved.

The main question now is whether Zamalek will succeed in recovering the EGP 20 million it is demanding or whether the review of contracts and financial records will lead to a different conclusion.

For now, the amount remains disputed, and no final ruling has established that Zizo must pay the money claimed by his former club.
