Pyramids Cruise Past Al Merrikh Bentiu With Four Goals to Reach CAF Champions League Group Stage

Pyramids FC continued their African campaign with an impressive 4-0 victory over South Sudan's Al Merrikh Bentiu on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Air Defense Stadium in the second leg of the CAF Champions League second preliminary round.
The Egyptian side secured a place in the group stage after winning both matches against their South Sudanese opponents.
Following a 1-0 victory in the first leg, Pyramids completed the job with a 5-0 aggregate win.
Pyramids delivered a strong attacking performance, controlling the match from the opening minutes and making the most of their chances.
The result also gave the team a confidence boost ahead of the next stage of the competition.
Early Dominance
Pyramids started the match with an attacking approach, using both wings and quick passes through midfield to create opportunities.
Al Merrikh Bentiu tried to stay organized in defense, but the home side continued to push forward.
The breakthrough came in the 23rd minute when Abdelrahman Magdy scored the opening goal, giving Pyramids an early advantage.
The Egyptian team continued to attack after taking the lead and managed to double its advantage during the first half.
Al Merrikh Bentiu thought they had found a way back into the match in the 31st minute, but their goal was ruled out for offside.
Pyramids remained in control and added a third goal during first-half stoppage time, heading into the break with a comfortable 3-0 lead.
In the second half, Pyramids maintained their attacking pressure and continued creating chances.
Algerian forward Ahmed Nadir Benbouali scored the fourth goal in the 71st minute, putting the result beyond doubt.
The score remained unchanged until the final whistle, confirming an impressive home victory and qualification for the group stage.
African Ambitions
Pyramids entered the second leg with a narrow advantage after Mahmoud Saber scored the only goal in the first meeting in Juba, South Sudan.
The Egyptian club followed that result with four more goals at home, finishing the two-legged tie with five goals scored and none conceded.
Ahmed El Shenawy started in goal, with Ahmed Samy, Mohamed El Shibi, Khaled Awad, and Karim Hafez forming the defensive line.
Mahmoud Saber, Mohanad Lasheen, Abdelrahman Magdy, Mostafa Fathi, and Nasser Maher featured in midfield, while Youssef Obama led the attack.
The substitutes included Walid El Karti, Mahmoud Zalaka, Mostafa Ziko, Ahmed Abdelkader, and Ahmed Nadir Benbouali, giving the coaching staff several options throughout the match.
Qualification represents another important step for Pyramids, who are hoping to reclaim the CAF Champions League trophy after winning the competition for the first time in 2025.
The club will now prepare for a more demanding stage, with stronger opponents expected in the group phase.
Pyramids will look to build on their recent continental experience and maintain their strong form as they continue their pursuit of another African title.
With a convincing 5-0 aggregate victory over Al Merrikh Bentiu, the Egyptian side has sent a positive message ahead of the group stage and will now wait to discover its next opponents.
