Shobeir: Emam Ashour Must Improve in Training to Regain Al Ahly Place

Questions are growing at Al Ahly after head coach Hussein Ammouta decided to leave Emam Ashour, Mohamed Hany, and Yasser Ibrahim out of the squad for the match against Modern Sport in the eighth round of the 2026-2027 Egyptian Premier League.
The three players have now missed two consecutive matches, raising questions among Al Ahly supporters, especially as none of them is dealing with an injury that would prevent him from playing.
Al Ahly's football director, Wael Gomaa, explained that the players were excluded for technical reasons.
Al Ahly will face Modern Sport at Cairo International Stadium on Thursday, October 29, at 5:00 PM, hoping to secure another important victory and continue their push toward the top of the league table.
Ammouta Sets a Condition for Ashour's Return
Egyptian sports presenter Ahmed Shobier revealed new details about Emam Ashour's situation during his radio program, explaining that the midfielder still has a chance to return to the squad.
However, his return will depend on his performances and attitude during training sessions.
According to Shobier, Ammouta wants Ashour to regain his focus, work harder, and improve his overall performance before being considered for selection again.
The coach expects the player to show greater commitment and prove that he is ready to help the team.
Shobier added that Ashour could remain outside the squad if his performances do not improve or if he fails to show the required effort in training.
Al Ahly's list of missing players also includes Ahmed Reda, who was left out for technical reasons.
Meanwhile, Ali Mahmoud, Oktay Abdullah, Karim El Debes, Reda Slim, Ahmed Khaled Kabaka, and Amr El Gazzar are unavailable because they have not yet reached full match fitness.
These absences create an additional challenge for Ammouta as Al Ahly look to maintain their strong results and compete for the leading positions in the Egyptian Premier League.
Contract Talks Raise Questions Over Hany and Yasser
Away from Ashour's situation, Shobier also discussed the latest developments regarding contract negotiations with Mohamed Hany and Yasser Ibrahim.
He explained that Al Ahly's management had expected to complete Hany's contract renewal earlier, but negotiations have not yet resulted in a final agreement.
Although some issues remain unresolved, Shobier believes the situation could be settled soon, potentially allowing Hany to return to action once an agreement over his future is reached.
Yasser Ibrahim's situation appears more complicated, with discussions over a new contract still ongoing and no final agreement in place.
Shobier suggested that the defender might have an attractive offer from another club or could receive one during the current period.
However, he also confirmed that sources inside Al Ahly had informed him that the club had not received any official offers for the player.
The situation leaves questions about Ibrahim's future, while Al Ahly continue working to maintain stability within the squad.
On the pitch, Al Ahly enter the Modern Sport match in third place in the Egyptian Premier League with 17 points.
Modern Sport sit fifth with 13 points and will be hoping to take advantage of Al Ahly's missing players.
The Red Devils are determined to collect all three points and keep the pressure on their rivals in the title race.
Attention will now turn to Ammouta's next squad selections, with supporters waiting to see whether Ashour can earn his place back and whether the contract situations involving Hany and Ibrahim will be resolved.
