Nada Abbas Fights Back to Set Up Aboelkheir Clash in Canadian Open Squash Semi-Finals

Egyptian squash players continue to deliver strong performances in international tournaments, with Fayrouz Aboelkheir and Nada Abbas securing their places in the semifinals of the Canadian Women's Open, bringing Egypt one step closer to competing for the title.
The tournament is taking place in Toronto, Canada, from October 25 to 31, with several talented players competing for a total prize fund of $85,000.
The two Egyptian players reached the semifinals in different ways.
Aboelkheir advanced after her opponent withdrew because of an injury, while Abbas earned her place following a hard-fought five-game victory over fellow Egyptian Farida Mohamed.
Egyptian Clash Decides Semifinal Spot
Fayrouz Aboelkheir secured her place in the semifinals without playing her quarterfinal match after her Indian opponent, Anahat Singh, withdrew due to injury.
The withdrawal allowed Aboelkheir to move directly into the next round.
Meanwhile, Nada Abbas defeated fellow Egyptian Farida Mohamed 3-2 in an exciting match that featured several changes in momentum.
Mohamed made a strong start, winning the opening game 11-5, but Abbas responded with an impressive 11-4 victory in the second game.
Mohamed regained the lead by taking the third game 11-7.
However, Abbas fought back once again, winning the fourth game 11-8 to level the match.
The fifth and deciding game was closely contested, with both players fighting for every point.
Abbas eventually secured a narrow 12-10 victory to book her place in the semifinals.
With this result, Abbas joins Aboelkheir in the final four, giving Egypt two players in the semifinals and keeping its hopes of winning the tournament alive.
Strong Egyptian Presence in Squash
The Canadian Women's Open featured nine Egyptian players, highlighting the country's strong presence in international squash competitions.
The Egyptian participants were Hana Moataz, Nour Heikal, Nour Aboulmakarim, Haya Ali, Rokaya Salem, Zeina Mickawy, Fayrouz Aboelkheir, Nada Abbas, and Farida Mohamed.
The semifinal qualification of Aboelkheir and Abbas comes at a time when Egypt continues to lead the world squash rankings.
According to the latest October rankings released by the Professional Squash Association, Egyptian rising star Amina Orfi, who represents Al Jazira Club, remains at the top of the women's world rankings.
In the men's rankings, Egyptian star Mostafa Asal has also maintained his position as the world's number one player.
These achievements show the continued strength of Egyptian squash, with players leading the world rankings and reaching the final stages of major international tournaments.
Attention now turns to the Canadian Women's Open semifinals, where Aboelkheir and Abbas will aim to continue their impressive runs and reach the final.
Both players will be hoping to take another important step toward bringing a new international squash title to Egypt.
