Qanah’s Moody Shalata in Contention for Egypt Call-Up Ahead of Malawi Qualifiers

Moody Shalata, a player for Qanah SC, has emerged as a possible new addition to the Egypt national team as head coach Hossam Hassan prepares his squad for November's matches against Malawi in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Shalata is among several players being monitored by Egypt's coaching staff ahead of the third and fourth rounds of qualification.
Hassan is looking to give opportunities to players who have impressed at club level while strengthening his options for the national team's upcoming matches.
Moody Shalata Among Players Considered for Egypt Squad
Egypt national team media coordinator Mohamed Morad revealed that the coaching staff is closely following several players who have delivered strong performances for their clubs.
The list includes Qanah's Moody Shalata, Modern Sport forward Mahmoud Mamdouh, and Zamalek's Omar Gaber, who could return to the national team during the November training camp.
Morad explained that these players are being considered for possible selection, but their inclusion in the final squad has not yet been confirmed.
He stressed that every player has a chance to represent Egypt, with current form, commitment, and performances playing important roles in the coaching staff's decisions.
Meanwhile, Hassan is preparing to make some changes to his squad ahead of the Malawi fixtures.
Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet is expected to return after recovering from the injury that kept him out of the previous international camp.
However, midfielder Hamdi Fathi, who plays for Qatar's Al Wakrah, is expected to remain unavailable as he continues his recovery from injury.
The coaching staff plans to select 25 players for the November camp.
Hassan will also continue monitoring domestic matches, including the Round of 32 fixtures in the Egypt Cup, before making his final decisions.
Egypt's Training Camp and Malawi Match Schedule
Egypt's national team is scheduled to begin its training camp on November 9 at the National Teams Center.
Team director Ibrahim Hassan confirmed that the official squad announcement is planned for November 9, although other reports suggest the list could be released on November 8.
Egypt will host Malawi on November 13 at Cairo International Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 PM local time.
The Pharaohs will then travel to face Malawi again on November 17 at Bingu National Stadium, with the match scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM Malawi time.
Egypt currently lead their qualifying group with four points after drawing against Angola in their opening match and defeating South Sudan in the second round.
Hossam Hassan will be aiming for two positive results against Malawi to strengthen Egypt's position at the top of the group and move closer to qualification for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
Attention will now turn to the final squad announcement, with Moody Shalata hoping to earn a place in the national team.
Whether the Qanah player receives his opportunity in November or remains under observation will depend on the coaching staff's final assessment as competition for places continues.
