With Renewals Stalled, Al Ahly Open Door to January Exits for Mohamed Hany and Yasser Ibrahim

Egyptian squash continued its impressive run on the international stage as Fayrouz Abouelkheir and Mohamed Zakaria captured the women's and men's titles at the Swedish Open, completing a remarkable double triumph for Egypt in Stockholm.
The tournament took place from September 30 to October 4, 2026, bringing together players from different countries.
The event featured a combined prize fund of $180,000, with $90,000 allocated to each of the men's and women's competitions.
Both Egyptian players delivered strong performances in their respective finals.
Abouelkheir claimed the women's championship without dropping a game, while Zakaria secured the men's trophy to add another achievement to Egyptian squash.
Fayrouz Shines
Fayrouz Abouelkheir produced an outstanding performance against England's Georgina Kennedy in the women's final, controlling the match from the opening game and giving her opponent little opportunity to fight back.
The Egyptian player secured a convincing 3-0 victory, winning 11-4, 11-5, and 11-3 to complete a straight-games triumph.
Abouelkheir maintained a consistent level throughout the contest, allowing her to finish the match comfortably and secure the championship.
The victory reflects her strong performances in international competitions and provides an important confidence boost as she looks to challenge for more titles in the coming months.
Zakaria Completes Double
In the men's competition, Mohamed Zakaria completed Egypt's successful day by defeating Wales' Joel Makin 3-1 in the final.
Zakaria made an excellent start, winning the opening two games 11-6 and 11-6 to establish a comfortable lead.
Makin responded in the third game, taking it 11-8 to reduce the deficit and keep his hopes alive.
However, the Egyptian quickly regained control in the fourth game, producing a dominant 11-2 performance to seal the victory and capture the men's championship.
His success gave Egypt its second title of the day and completed a memorable tournament for the country's squash players.
The Swedish Open also featured strong Egyptian participation across both competitions.
In the men's draw, Egypt was represented by Mostafa El Serty, Karim El Hammamy, Mohamed Zakaria, Karim El Torkey, Yahya Elnawasany, and Mohamed Abouelghar.
The women's competition included Nadine El Hammamy, Habiba Hany, Nour Aboulmakarem, Menna Hamed, Haya Ali, Nadine Shahin, Rowan Elaraby, Hana Ramadan, Mariam Metwally, and Fayrouz Abouelkheir.
The double triumph also comes during a period of continued Egyptian success in the world squash rankings.
According to the Professional Squash Association's September rankings, Mostafa Asal maintained his position as the world's top-ranked men's player, while rising Egyptian star Amina Orfi, who represents Al Gezira Club, remained at the top of the women's rankings.
With Abouelkheir and Zakaria winning both championships, the Swedish Open concluded with Egypt claiming the men's and women's titles.
The achievement further highlights the strength of Egyptian squash across different generations and the country's ability to compete for major honors on the international stage.
